FR Made In The USA

Flame Resistant Clothing Made in the U.S.A.

Made in the U.S.A. It is getting harder for companies to make that claim anymore. Companies are always looking for ways to improve their bottom line. From a pure business perspective, it makes sense to produce goods at the lowest price possible and to sell them at a profit. Take a look at the label of your FR clothing. More than likely it was made in Honduras, Vietnam, Mexico or some other country where the labor is cheaper.

Benchmark FR believes that Made in the USA is still important. That is why we are one of the only FR manufacturers that can boast the claim American Made. We make 95% of our products in Santa Ana, California.

Why Do We Do It?

We Are The Manufacturer

Unlike many FR providers, we manufacture all our products. We develop the materials, design the patterns and sew the garments. We don’t buy from other companies and sew our label in. If the label reads, Benchmark FR, it was made by us.

Quality Control

Since the company was founded in 2002, we’ve never had a recall of any of our products. When your production facility is half a world away, it makes it a lot more difficult to control the quality of the fabrics and the work performed.

We are so zealous about the quality of our products that we were the first FR company to develop a comprehensive tracking program. Each Benchmark FR garment has its own serial number and is scanned once it is shipped. We know everything there is to know about the quality of the garment you receive. If there ever were a problem, can know exactly which garments would be affected, which would allow us to correct the issue.

For our shirts, jackets, pants and coveralls, we have a one-year free repair warranty. If the garment becomes worn, torn, ripped or frayed, even if it is your fault, we will repair the garment free of charge. It would be very difficult to do this if we had to send each garment to another country to make this happen.

Safety & Comfort

There probably isn’t a company out there that doesn’t say they don’t care about their customers. It wouldn’t be very good for business but when you are bound to shareholders, their primary concern is profit. Historically, we have set the industry bar creating innovative fabrics and designs that keep workers safe and comfortable. One of our newest products, our Silver Bullet FR rated Shirt is 9 cal/cm2 rated, weighs only 5.1 ounces and provides incredible moisture wicking. Why did we go to all the trouble? We know that when you are comfortable, you are more productive and less inclined to make mistakes. (What is the arc flash issue with moisture. Ask John).

We also make sure that all our products are safe to wear against the skin. If you are getting rashes and neck growths in area where FR clothing touches your skin, there might be a reason.

Financially, it would probably make more sense to make our products somewhere else and make more money. If we used cheaper materials and only met the minimum standards for FR protection, we could probably make more money. Then again, we’ve never gone with conventional wisdom at the expense of those who wear our products.
