This item meets the performance specification ASTM F1506-18 which is the Standard Performance Specification for Flame Resistant and Electric Arc Rated Protective Clothing Worn by Workers Exposed to Flames and Arcs. This specification is called out in OSHA 1910.269, NFPA 70E and CSA Z462.

This clothing item is UL Certified and meets the requirements of NFPA 2112-2018. It is considered flame resistant clothing for protection against short term duration thermal exposure from fire in accordance with NFPA 2112-2018. Note that NFPA 2113 requires upper and lower body coverage.

Meets NFPA 70E: Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace. Arc Flash PPE Category 2 or “CAT 2” with an Arc Rating (ATPV) = 8.9 cal/cm2.

This garment is constructed from arc and flame resistant fabric and components in a facility with audited quality controls. It will resist ignition and not continue to burn when the ignition source is removed. This garment is not intended for fire fighting activities and provides no protection from chemical exposure. This garment will maintain its flame resistant properties for the life of the garment provided wash and care instructions are followed.

It’s cool looking but even better it’s functional and breathable.
I love the weight of the shirt as most FR is heavy and doesn’t breathe well. This gives the 8 cal rating I need without feeling like a plastic bag holding in sweat & heat. Much of the equipment I deal with is 1-2 cals and yes the site requires 8 but I don’t need to feel like it’s a 25 cal shirt. If I need that I love that Benchmark has tested layers that can give me that the 2-5% of the time it’s needed. You have to have a tested system to layer, you just can’t add up labels!
Finally, 2 pockets without flaps allow carrying a 4 gas monitor in one and 3x3 post in notes or arc flash labels I have to apply in the other unmangled. I love this shirt.
