Their skis and snowboard tested positive for “forever chemicals,” now banned at the Winter Games. PFAS are used in ski wax to help equipment glide faster, but they’ve been linked to serious health and environmental risks, including liver damage, immune system harm, and certain cancers.
These chemicals don’t break down and can contaminate soil and water, which is why they’re already illegal in many states and are set to be banned nationwide by 2030.
At Benchmark FR, we didn’t wait for legislation. We removed PFAS from our products years ago, because protecting people should never come at the expense of their health or the environment. All of our clothing is made using PFAS-free FR materials.
Active Legislation: As of 2025, over 350 bills were introduced across 39 states, with many focusing on prohibiting intentionally added PFAS in products.
Always check product labels and ask questions. Look for items clearly marked “PFAS-free” If it’s not stated, especially on water or stain-resistant products. Don’t assume it’s PFAS-free.
